September Rally

Our Installation rally 27 - 30 September was quite a success. We had three Class A motor homes, six shining silver classic Airstream travel trailers and a familiar B van. Everyone arrive at Fort Knox and set up and wasted no time finding fellowship around the dinner table at the Doe Run Inn. After dinner everyone gathered around the fire to listen to the soothing hiss of Bob Moyers propane campfire.

Friday Morning Bob Moyers, with lots of help, prepared Kentucky round steak and egg sandwiches for all. Some of our members visited the Patton Museum, some went to Glendale, and others went to ‘E-Town to the Car museum and the Coca-Cola museum.

Following the installation of new officers everyone joined together for a pot luck dinner. Thanks to all of our new officers for agreeing to serve as leaders of our organization. And of course thanks to all of those who planned and organized the activities this year as well as those who maintained our finances and welcomed new members.

Saturday morning everyone traveled to Hodgensville for the Lincoln Jamboree. Charlie May demonstrated how to navigate using his GPS with a couple of trips around the city square. The camping fee was well within everyone’s budget, free with a ticket to the evening show. The dinner and show at the Jamboree was great! Everyone should do this at least once.

Sunday morning after a church service led by David Leeper some of our members left for home and some went back to the Jamboree for breakfast.

It is so enjoyable to look back on our summer camping season and reflect on the wonderful times by the campfire, the great fellowship with our members, the wonderful people we met in the campgrounds and of course the delicious meals together.

I know all of us are looking forward to our Christmas Dinner in Shelbyville and the exciting rally schedule for 2008.
